Nijmegen

Nijmegen and Maastricht rival over which town is the oldest city in the Netherlands. Both cities had Roman presence. In Nijmegen you can see the remains of a Roman bath house in the foundations of the casino on the bank of the Waal river. Since Nijmegen is a university town, it has a lively city center that has plenty of bars, restaurants and shops that cater to a wide range of tastes.

Grave

The formerly fortified town of Grave lies across the river Meuse. It has a small and cosy city centre with some nice shops and restaurants. Grave is worth a visit and only 5km from the B&B. The bridge over the Meuse to Grave was one of the bridges that the Allied forces captured as part of operation Market Garden in WWII.
