This page explains how we handle your personal data when you visit this website or contact us. We keep the data we process to a minimum.

What we process and why

Visiting the website

Our website is hosted by Netlify. With every visit the hosting provider processes technical data, such as your IP address, the time, the page you requested and your browser type. This is needed to show and secure the website (legitimate interest).

Anonymous statistics

To see how visitors use our website we use Umami. Umami does not place cookies, does not store your IP address and does not follow individual visitors. We only see totals: which pages are viewed, on which pages visitors enter and leave, which website they came from, what kind of device and browser they use, and how often the links to Airbnb, WhatsApp and email and the language choice are clicked. We use this to improve the website (legitimate interest).

Fonts

We load our fonts from Adobe Fonts. Adobe receives your IP address in order to deliver the fonts.

Map on the Directions page

On the Directions page you can show a Google Maps map. The map is only loaded when you click "Show map". Only then does your browser connect to Google. Google then receives, among other things, your IP address and may place cookies. See the Google privacy policy.

Request form

If you use the request form, we process the details you enter: your name, email address, the room you choose, the dates, the number of guests and your message, if any. We only use them to reply to you. The form is processed by Netlify, which forwards the request to us by email and stores it in its system. We keep requests no longer than needed to handle them and to meet statutory retention periods.

Contact and your stay

If you call, message or email us, we use your details to answer your question and arrange your stay. Messages sent through WhatsApp pass through WhatsApp (Meta). Bookings usually go through Airbnb; Airbnb's privacy policy applies to that, and we receive the data we need to welcome you. We keep data no longer than needed to handle your question or stay and to meet statutory retention periods, for example for our bookkeeping.

Cookies

Our website itself does not place cookies. Third-party services, such as the Google map once you have shown it, may place their own cookies.

Sharing with others

We do not sell your data. We only share data with the parties listed above that help us deliver the website or your stay. Some of them are located outside the European Union, for example in the United States. They rely on the safeguards required by law.

Your rights

You can ask us for access to your data, for correction or deletion, for restriction of the processing and for transfer of your data. You can also object to the processing. Send an email to auke@kruisbergsetuin.nl; we reply within one month. If we cannot work it out together, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
